after long time of trying to install Cuckoo on Ubuntu 16.04 desktop (i have basic skills on Linux... ) and running Win7 as the vm (on Virtual Box), i have mange to successfully run and analyzing some files.
the analysis seems to work fine and i got an report but there are two warnings in the Cuckoo logs:
1. " WARNING: Unable to stop auxiliary module: Potential error while running tcpdump, did not expect the following standard error output: 'dropped privs to root'. "
2. " WARNING: Unable to import yara (please compile from sources) "
regarding the first warning its wierd because i am able to see the tcpdump file in the relevant folder ( cukoo\storage\analysis\1 ) .
also important - i run all the cuckoo loading commands with sudo : " sudo python cuckoo.py " & for the web UI : " sudo python manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:6969 "
will really appreciate the help regarding those 2 issues.
